Erectile Dysfunction
Vascular surgery for Erectile Dysfunction:

There are two types of vascular surgery available for men with erection dysfunction due to vascular causes.

Penile arterial revascularization for Erectile Dysfunction

This procedure is used when there is a blocked or nonfunctional blood vessel. The basic strategy is to re-route the blood flow so that the blocked area is bypassed. It is the same principle used in coronary artery bypass surgery.

Generally this is used when the blood vessel in question has been injured or damaged, such as in the course of an accident or blunt trauma. It is used in young men without atherosclerosis.

Venous ligation surgery for Erectile Dysfunction

This procedure is much more trickier. The reasoning behind this technique is based on the fact that the 'hardness' of the penis is due to retention of blood in the venous sinuses of the penis. This procedure seeks to fix 'leaky veins' that prevent the erection from lasting for a sufficiently long period of time.

Success rates are low, and it is not a favoured surgery. But only your doctor can tell you if you are a candidate for this procedure.

Diabetic patients and patients with widespread hardening of the blood vessels may not be a candidate for either of these vascular procedures. Also it is not suitable for smokers since the ongoing vascular damage from nicotine puts you in a total no-win position.

If you are a smoker, you will need to sit down and think hard what is more important to have on your lips- a woman's kiss or tobacco's kiss.
